Riley

Well we went to a Neurologist appointment with Riley today. If my counting is correct it is his 23rd time at the doctors / hospital since November. They are changing his diagnoses from epilepsy to  Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). Which is a more serious and very rare seizure disorder. His seizure activity has increased significantly & he is currently having about 4 reportable seizures a month.  He had zero for almost 6 months, right after his hospital stay last spring. He is currently on 3 seizure medications. We are going to add another medication, with the hope that he will not have anymore break-thru seizures. The Dr. Says that there is a 5-10% chance that this additional med will help. We are also meeting with a nutritionist to look into changing him to a ketogenic diet. Our last option is to place a VNS Implant, with the hope it can help regulate his seizures. I am not sure how I feel - almost numb.
